The screen when set effectively will always create some problems in a defense. This will allow a brief opportunity to take an open shot. See how we do it in this video.

Basketball Success- What Every Player Needs to Know

Hello basketball lovers, and welcome to my website BBallsuccess.com. On this site we’re going to take you to an amazing adventure of basketball knowledge. If you’re just starting out in the game, don’t worry, we’re going to keep it simple. But there is also going to be something for everybody on this site. Because much of what we will deal with here is about fundamentals we’re going to explain basketball from a fundamentals point of view.

Fundamentals- the Foundation to Basketball Success

Fundamentals are the true building blocks of the basketball player. Everything starts with fundamentals, as they are the foundation of every good basketball player of every level. After we fully understand fundamentals and how we can develop them, from there we build basketball IQ. And what is basketball IQ? That is the intelligence that every basketball player should bring to the court every time they play the game, whether it’s in a pickup game or for the league championship.

Basketball IQ involves being able to see everything that’s going on in the court so the player can make the right decisions; and every player makes dozens of decisions both large and small every game. All of those decisions, both right and wrong add up to how the team will perform in any game.

And finally, all of that leads to adaptability. When a coach is competing against another team he needs tools to compete with. Those tools are provided by his players. The more tools his players can give him, such as the ability to shoot, rebound, handle the ball and everything else that his players have learned when developing their fundamentals, the better chance he has to succeed. But not every game is the same. Players that can adapt by using different skills depending on the needs of their team are going to be winning teams.

When I was in high school for that level I was able to do everything on the basketball court. But when I went to prep school the team needed a spot up three point shooter, and I was able to provide that for the coach. Then I went to college and my last year the team needed a defensive stopper, as every team in our league had at least one great shooter. So even though early in my high school days I was not considered a great defender, by college I had made myself into one. Adaptability comes from a strong fundamental’s foundation and a high basketball IQ, and that takes time and a lot of hard work. This site will address those needs.
